IO industries Inc. provides advanced video cameras and video recording systems for instrumentation of highly dynamic experiments in the aerospace and defense sectors. IO industries Inc. provides advanced video cameras and video recording systems for instrumentation of highly dynamic experiments in the aerospace and defense sectors. Whether the need is to record high-bandwidth digital video from a specialized thermal camera during a critical mission test, or to provide complete multi-viewpoint synchronized camera systems to observe and log the events of such a mission, the experts managing these experiments depend on the performance and reliability of solutions from IO Industries. WHY BROADCASTERS AND SPECIALTY VIDEO SYSTEM INTEGRATORS CHOOSE IO INDUSTRIES CAMERAS THE RIGHT SENSORS FOR SPORTS Cameras can be designed around two types of sensors today - both are based on CMOS technology - the older CCD sensors seen in cameras of the past are no longer state-of-the-art - but the two CMOS options can give very different results depending how the cameras are used. Rolling shutter is the most common sensor type, but as its name suggests, it exposes each frame of video by rolling an electronic shutter down the sensor rows. If the camera is panning across a wide field of play, or shaking (being hit by a stray ball, or tackled by a player!) when this exposure happens, there is a distortion seen in the video, commonly referred to as a wobble or 'jello' effect, which cannot be removed or corrected for afterwards. The solution to this is to use cameras with the other CMOS sensor type: global shutter. These sensors expose each frame the same way as older CCD sensors, all rows at a time, meaning no distortion is seen. In lots of the use cases for IO Industries cameras, having global shutter sensors is an advantage that sets the IOI cameras above others. FEATURE PACKED, FUTURE READY CAMERAS All models of IO Industries' SDI POV camera series are full of advanced features to adjust the video to suit whatever use case is needed. Automatic adjustments like auto-exposure, AGC, AWB etc. are all available, but fully-manual adjustments can be used too, with as much granularity in the controls as is found in professional broadcasting and even digital cinematography cameras (like paint and shading controls, saturation, LUTs, shutter angle exposure control, etc.). They are globally compatible, offering all standard frame rates and resolutions needed in modern HD/UHD productions and beyond. And in most cases, multi-format output is possible, meaning a 4K camera can be used for HD output today, then down the road, used for 4K productions when needed. With no extra costs for licenses or keys to do so. The same is true for 8K production, with the 8KSDI camera offering switchable 4K/UHD and 8K/UHDTV2 output modes. OPTIMIZED FOR AUDIENCE VIEWING A great deal of effort goes into making each and every IO Industries camera look its best, knowing it could be used to make video that will eventually reach the homes of viewers around the world. That's a different consideration than other industrial vision cameras go through - many similar cameras are not characterized to the same extent, or include sensor noise correction and other image enhancement features, because they're intended primarily to be used in factory inspection machines that employ vision technologies to check parts in production. Computer vision algorithms in factories are not paying attention to the same details in the images, nor are they critically concerned with the quality of color reproduction or the amount of dynamic range the camera makes. Thats why IO Industries cameras can go toe to toe with professional video cameras, while still bridging the flexibility and configurability of industrial-type cameras into these applications. FEATURES SPECIFICATIONS DOWNLOADS CALCULATOR ACCESSORIES VIDEOS/PHOTOS FLEXIBLE CONFIGURATIONS The RodeoGRANDE DVR shares much of the same connectivity and software ecosystem as the other Rodeo DVRs and their close relatives, the IOI Volucam cameras. Whether DVRs (and their connected cameras) are used alone in a system, or together in a hybrid system with Volucam cameras, the variety of compatible devices makes design, setup and operation of synchronized multi-camera video recording systems much simpler than ever. A typical configuration joins CoaXPress or Camera Link cameras with their associated DVR, which are connected to a fast network switch and controlled from a single PC. If needed, Volucam cameras can be integrated seamlessly into the same configuration. SDI monitoring equipment can be used for low-latency viewing of each camera through video screens and multi-viewers. IOI's interactive software control utilities, 2ndLookPLUS or StudioCap-VC Client, are used by the system operator, or the available SDK can be used to build custom interactive control applications. Once recordings are completed, the files can be downloaded then analyzed or processed by 3rd party applications. RodeoGRANDE Features A PERFECT MATCH FOR YOUR FAST STREAMING CAMERAS RodeoGRANDE builds on the proven foundation of our Rodeo and RodeoPLUS DVRs, delivering a major leap in high-performance RAW video recording. Its FPGA-based RAW video recording engine reliably captures long sequences of high-bandwidth video from multiple cameras, through either coaxial or fiber-optic CoaXPress video connections. RodeoGRANDE takes synchronized, multi-camera video recording to the next level - recording two of today's fastest CoaXPress video cameras - at over 4GByte/sec each - with zero dropped frames! Whether you're recording video for scientific research, cinematic performance capture or athlete analysis, RodeoGRANDE ensures you record every frame, every time. PRECISE SYNCHRONIZATION Synchronization is critical in multi-camera video recording systems. Multiple cameras connected to multiple RodeoGRANDE DVRs can all be precisely shutter-synchronized and time-stamped. All frames from all cameras will have the same timestamps and frame numbers to simplify post-processing and correlation. IEEE-1588 Precision time protocol (PTP) is supported through the 10GbE interface, either by having all DVRs synchronized to a PTP grandmaster clock, or by having one DVR operate as a master itself, distributing PTP time to the other DVRs through the network. Synchronization of the cameras, DVRs, and other external equipment is possible using the many general purpose TTL inputs/outputs on each DVR. FAST 10G & 100G ETHERNET Much like other Rodeo DVRs, RodeoGRANDE connects via 10G Ethernet to a Windows or Linux control computer of your choice. This allows remote configuration and control of the DVR and for streaming live video to be shown in the control software. After recordings are completed, the 10G connection lets you transfer video files to separate storage at fast speeds. For even faster downloads, RodeoGRANDE DVRs have a separate 100G Ethernet port for maximum transfer speeds to either the control computer or another fast network storage destination. LIVE VIDEO MONITORING For lowest-latency live monitoring, the RodeoGRANDE DVR has an SDI video output capable of streaming Ultra HD or Full HD at up to 60fps. When high resolution cameras are connected to the DVR, FPGA-based cropping and scaling features can be used to down-size the video from each camera to fit within the output video frame. Anything from the full field of view (for wide observation) down to a 1:1 pixel crop (for fine focus adjustment) can be shown. Live video streaming is also supported through the 10GbE interface, with adjustable control over the bandwidth used for this, so that even low-performance control PCs and remote monitoring stations can display live video from many cameras at once. INTEGRATED TIME REFERENCE INPUTS Timing can be everything when it comes to video analytics. Understanding the precise time when a frame is captured allows a better correlation of imagery to other data sources, such as telemetry systems, environmental sensors, or other DVR systems in other locations. RodeoGRANDE includes IRIG-B (AM and DC) and SMPTE LTC timecode inputs as a standard feature, making it easy to synchronize with many formats of timing signals found in aerospace test facilities and video production studios. As well, an optional high-accuracy GNSS receiver can be installed, for synchronization with not only GPS, but other international satellite navigation systems. For mobile capture applications in vehicles or aircraft, up to 20Hz position data can be logged with video recordings . Click "Learn More" for additional information. LEARN MORE COMPACT AND LOW-POWER RodeoGRANDE DVRs fit conveniently in standard 19" equipment racks, taking up just 2U of height and as little as 18" depth. Total weight is under 20lbs and power consumption is only 85W, making mobile system configurations possible via portable rack enclosures. Compared to alternative CoaXPress video recording solutions built around large server-grade PCs, RodeoGRANDE DVRs significantly minimize size, weight and power without sacrificing performance or capabilities. LONG-DISTANCE CAMERA CONNECTIONS MADE EASY RodeoGRANDE is our first DVR to support CoaXPress-over-Fiber connections, enabling long-distance, high-bandwidth links to faraway cameras without the need for 3rd-party fiber extenders. Using industry-standard optical transceivers, CXPoF connections can reach as far as 40km (or longer with repeaters!). This helps when cameras need to be placed far from the DVRs in either remote environments (sports stadiums), or hazardous locations (space launch facilities, missile test ranges).

The 8KSDI is a compact 8K/UHDTV2 video camera with professional 10-bit SDI output. It can be used as a point-of-view (POV) camera for sports broadcasting and other live events, or when combined with an SDI video recorder, the 8KSDI can be used for specialty video production and cinematography. FEATURES SPECIFICATIONS DOWNLOADS ACCESSORIES VIDEOS/PHOTOS MULTI-CAMERA SYNCHRONIZATION Shutter synchronization is critical for multi-camera applications such as stereoscopic 3D, VR-360, or even volumetric video capture. As well, in live broadcast facilities, cameras need to be able to follow a master sync reference in order to allow cuts/fades between cameras. Otherwise, cameras must be paired with frame synchronizers which can add to the total video delay. The 8KSDI accepts an HD tri-level sync signal through a dedicated HD-BNC input. If this signal is distributed to multiple cameras, microsecond-level shutter synchronization between the cameras can be achieved. 8KSDI FEATURES SMALL 8K/UHDTV2/4K/UHD VIDEO CAMERA The 8KSDI is a compact 8K/UHDTV2 video camera with professional 10-bit SDI output. It can be used as a point-of-view (POV) camera for sports broadcasting and other live events, or when combined with an SDI video recorder, the 8KSDI can be used for specialty video production and cinematography. It can comfortably fit in tight locations where larger cameras are impractical. With an interchangeable lens mount, a variety of lenses can be used depending on how wide or narrow of a view is needed. Multiple cameras can be precisely synchronized together for immersive virtual reality capture systems. Low-latency video output via 4x12G-SDI enables plug-and-play connection to a variety of monitors, signal extenders, recorders, and other infrastructure. ADVANCED GLOBAL SHUTTER SENSOR The CMOS image sensor used in the 8KSDI camera features advanced global shutter capability. Global shutter means all pixels across the sensor capture light during the same period of time. In contrast, sensors which use a rolling shutter technique will stagger the start of exposure throughout the rows of the image. This leads to motion artifacts in fast-moving scenes, as well as uneven frame illumination if bright flashes occur partway through the exposure period. Traditionally, sensors designed with global shutter capability showed a tradeoff of higher noise and lower dynamic range, but the Super 35 sensor in the 8KSDI has a modern global shutter pixel design with optimizations to provide low noise and high dynamic range. This allows the 8KSDI to be used across a wide variety of lighting conditions. INTERCHANGEABLE LENSES The 8KSDI features an interchangeable lens mount, with options of F-mount, MFT-mount, Active EF-mount or Active RF-mount. This allows easy connection to hundreds of standard lenses available today. The flexibility to easily swap between fisheye, portrait, zoom, telephoto and many other kinds of lenses adds to the versatility of the 8KSDI camera, in comparison to other cameras with integrated non-removable lenses. The F-mount and MFT-mount are passive, mechanical-only mounts requiring manually-adjustable lenses. The Active EF-mount and RF-mount allow electronic remote control of iris and focus on compatible lenses. Contact us for lens recommendations! MULTI-FORMAT SDI VIDEO OUTPUT With four SDI outputs on HD-BNC connectors, the 8KSDI provides a range of options to connect to either 8K/UHDTV2-compatible or 4K/UHD-compatible equipment. The highest-resolution output formats are UHDTV2 (7680x4320) and DCI 8K (8192x4320), at rates from 23.98 to 60.0 fps. For applications not yet needing 8K resolution, an in-camera scaling mode enables 4K/UHD output at up to 60fps via single-link 12G/6G-SDI. This highly-detailed 4K/UHD output mode exceeds the measured resolution of 4K cameras with native 4K image sensors. PACKED WITH FEATURES The 8KSDI can be set up quickly using intelligent features like auto white balance and automatic exposure, but unlike other POV cameras, these features can be easily disabled to allow manual fine-tuning of the exposure and color processing performed by the camera. The 8KSDI has coarse and fine exposure (shutter) controls, white balance and black balance controls with saturation adjustment, color temperature presets and a 24-phase multi-matrix for precise color matching. Look up tables (LUTs) with standard and high dynamic range gamma options, knee function and master pedestal are also standard. Lastly, image enhancement and denoise controls enable fine details to be displayed at their best. EASY TO USE, EASY TO INTEGRATE The 8KSDI is controlled through a two-wire RS485 serial connection. Operators can use a handheld remote control for quick camera adjustments through the on-screen menu. For live broadcast environments, 3rd-party remote control panels (RCPs) are available as well, allowing quick adjustments of paint and shading functions. PC-based control is possible through a USB-RS485 adapter and an easy-to-use software utility provided with the camera. Or, for complete systems integration, the full camera control protocol is straight-forward and fully documented for developers to incorporate into other control systems. Third party adapters are available to adapt C-mount to B4, PL, Canon FD, and other mount types. FAST 10G ETHERNET One of the most convenient features of the Volucam is its 10G Ethernet connectivity. This interface is used for all configuration and operational control commands, and also for streaming live video to the control software. Best of all, this interface is used to rapidly transfer video recordings from the Volucam into a network-accessible shared folder or NAS. An SFP+ port is provided, allowing either copper cabling or long-distance optical connections with multi-mode or single-mode fiber. INTERNAL VIDEO RECORDING A built-in high-performance solid state drive stores recordings until they can be transferred through the 10GbE interface for further processing. The capacity can be up to 7680GB, allowing long clips (or many shorter clips) to be recorded before the storage fills up. Video files are stored in a RAW format with up to 12-bit quality - color video is not demosaiced until further into the workflow. Recordings can be uncompressed or optionally compressed using a lossless codec. Compression allows smaller file sizes, leading to longer possible recording times and faster file transfer times through the network. MULTI CAMERA SYNCHRONIZATION Synchronization is critical in multi-camera arrays, especially in volumetric capture applications. The Volucam allows many cameras to be shutter-synchronized as well as time-synchronized so that all frames captured at the same time will have the same timestamps to correlate the images by. The Volucam supports IEEE-1588 precision time protocol through the 10GbE interface. Multiple cameras can be synchronized to a grandmaster clock, or one camera can be operated as a master and distribute time to the other cameras itself. Other synchronization options include a SMPTE LTC input and GPIO pins for local synchronization between cameras.
