FLEXIBLE CONFIGURATIONS

The RodeoGRANDE DVR shares much of the same connectivity and software ecosystem as the other Rodeo DVRs and their close relatives, the IOI Volucam cameras.  Whether DVRs (and their connected cameras) are used alone in a system, or together in a hybrid system with Volucam cameras, the variety of compatible devices makes design, setup and operation of synchronized multi-camera video recording systems much simpler than ever.  A typical configuration joins CoaXPress or Camera Link cameras with their associated DVR, which are connected to a fast network switch and controlled from a single PC.  If needed, Volucam cameras can be integrated seamlessly into the same configuration.  SDI monitoring equipment can be used for low-latency viewing of each camera through video screens and multi-viewers.  IOI's interactive software control utilities, 2ndLookPLUS or StudioCap-VC Client, are used by the system operator, or the available SDK can be used to build custom interactive control applications.  Once recordings are completed, the files can be downloaded then analyzed or processed by 3rd party applications.

Features

A PERFECT MATCH FOR YOUR FAST STREAMING CAMERAS

RodeoGrandeCQ_2cams.png

RodeoGRANDE builds on the proven foundation of our Rodeo and RodeoPLUS DVRs, delivering a major leap in high-performance RAW video recording.  Its FPGA-based RAW video recording engine reliably captures long sequences of high-bandwidth video from multiple cameras, through either coaxial or fiber-optic CoaXPress video connections.  RodeoGRANDE takes synchronized, multi-camera video recording to the next level - recording two of today's fastest CoaXPress video cameras - at over 4GByte/sec each - with zero dropped frames!  Whether you're recording video for scientific research, cinematic performance capture or athlete analysis, RodeoGRANDE ensures you record every frame, every time.

PRECISE SYNCHRONIZATION

Rodeo_Feature3.png

Synchronization is critical in multi-camera video recording systems.  Multiple cameras connected to multiple RodeoGRANDE DVRs can all be precisely shutter-synchronized and time-stamped.  All frames from all cameras will have the same timestamps and frame numbers to simplify post-processing and correlation.  IEEE-1588 Precision time protocol (PTP) is supported through the 10GbE interface, either by having all DVRs synchronized to a PTP grandmaster clock, or by having one DVR operate as a master itself, distributing PTP time to the other DVRs through the network.  Synchronization of the cameras, DVRs, and other external equipment is possible using the many general purpose TTL inputs/outputs on each DVR.

FAST 10G & 100G ETHERNET

Much like other Rodeo DVRs, RodeoGRANDE connects via 10G Ethernet to a Windows or Linux control computer of your choice.  This allows remote configuration and control of the DVR and for streaming live video to be shown in the control software.  After recordings are completed, the 10G connection lets you transfer video files to separate storage at fast speeds.  For even faster downloads, RodeoGRANDE DVRs have a separate 100G Ethernet port for maximum transfer speeds to either the control computer or another fast network storage destination.

LIVE VIDEO MONITORING

Grande_Monitoring.png

For lowest-latency live monitoring, the RodeoGRANDE DVR has an SDI video output capable of streaming Ultra HD or Full HD at up to 60fps.  When high resolution cameras are connected to the DVR, FPGA-based cropping and scaling features can be used to down-size the video from each camera to fit within the output video frame.  Anything from the full field of view (for wide observation) down to a 1:1 pixel crop (for fine focus adjustment) can be shown.  Live video streaming is also supported through the 10GbE interface, with adjustable control over the bandwidth used for this, so that even low-performance control PCs and remote monitoring stations can display live video from many cameras at once.

INTEGRATED TIME REFERENCE INPUTS

Timing can be everything when it comes to video analytics. Understanding the precise time when a frame is captured allows a better correlation of imagery to other data sources, such as telemetry systems, environmental sensors, or other DVR systems in other locations.  RodeoGRANDE includes IRIG-B (AM and DC) and SMPTE LTC timecode inputs as a standard feature, making it easy to synchronize with many formats of timing signals found in aerospace test facilities and video production studios.  As well, an optional high-accuracy GNSS receiver can be installed, for synchronization with not only GPS, but other international satellite navigation systems.  For mobile capture applications in vehicles or aircraft, up to 20Hz position data can be logged with video recordings .  Click "Learn More" for additional information.

COMPACT AND LOW-POWER

RodeoGRANDE DVRs fit conveniently in standard 19" equipment racks, taking up just 2U of height and as little as 18" depth.  Total weight is under 20lbs and power consumption is only 85W, making mobile system configurations possible via portable rack enclosures.  Compared to alternative CoaXPress video recording solutions built around large server-grade PCs, RodeoGRANDE DVRs significantly minimize size, weight and power without sacrificing performance or capabilities.

LONG-DISTANCE CAMERA CONNECTIONS MADE EASY

RodeoGRANDE is our first DVR to support CoaXPress-over-Fiber connections, enabling long-distance, high-bandwidth links to faraway cameras without the need for 3rd-party fiber extenders. Using industry-standard optical transceivers, CXPoF connections can reach as far as 40km (or longer with repeaters!).  This helps when cameras need to be placed far from the DVRs in either remote environments (sports stadiums), or hazardous locations (space launch facilities, missile test ranges).
