The RodeoPLUS DVR shares much of the same connectivity and software ecosystem as Rodeo and its close relatives, the IOI Volucam cameras.  Whether RodeoPLUS DVRs (and their connected cameras) are used alone in a system, or together in a hybrid system with  Rodeo DVRs and Volucam cameras, these tools make setup and operation of synchronized multi-camera video recording systems much simpler than ever.  A typical configuration pairs each CoaXPress or Camera Link camera with an associated DVR, which are connected to a 10GbE network switch and controlled from a single PC.  If needed, Volucam cameras can be integrated seamlessly into the same configuration.  SDI equipment can be used for low-latency monitoring of each camera through video screens and multi-viewers.  IOI's comprehensive control software, StudioCap-VC, can be used by the system operator, or the available SDK can be used to build custom software applications.  The software configures the DVRs and their attached cameras, as well as Volucam cameras as needed, and controls recording from all devices, all while displaying live video for real-time monitoring.  Once recordings are completed, the files can be exported to a network-connected Export Server PC, after which they can be accessed by third party processing software.

RODEOGRANDE
FEATURES

THE RELIABLE COMPANION TO YOUR HIGH PERFORMANCE CAMERA

RodeoPLUS_Feature1.png

RodeoPLUS builds on the capabilities of our Rodeo DVR, adding key features for advanced power-users.  You get the same capability for RAW recording from high-performance video cameras, but the media is now more easily removable and available in higher capacities.  The removable SSD can be quickly taken away for safekeeping or to download the video at a separate location.  Time sync options have been expanded; IRIG-B timecode can now be directly connected or an optional GNSS receiver can be installed to provide satellite-based timing and position logging.  The new chassis is rack-mountable and has more internal cooling to support higher ambient operating temperatures.  All together, these features make RodeoPLUS ideal for the most demanding video recording applications, especially test range recording, space launch imaging and other precision video instrumentation tasks.

DEPENDABLE HIGH SPEED VIDEO RECORDING

RodeoPLUS features an FPGA-based recording engine supporting a recording rate of over 2 GBytes/sec to an internal high-performance solid state drive.  This drive stores recordings until they can be transferred through the 10GbE interface for further processing.  Today, the maximum storage capacity for RodeoPLUS is 16TB, though higher capacity storage will be available in the future.  This allows long clips (or many shorter clips) to be recorded before the storage fills up.  Video files are stored in a RAW format using the native bit depth of the camera's output, up to 16-bit quality.  Color video is not demosaiced until further into the workflow.  With RodeoPLUS CoaXPress, lossless encoding is employed during recording, providing more efficient storage and smaller file sizes, for longer recording times and faster file transfer times than fully-uncompressed files.

PRECISE SYNCHRONIZATION

Rodeo_Feature3.png

Synchronization is critical in multi-camera video recording systems.  Multiple cameras connected to multiple RodeoPLUS DVRs can be precisely shutter-synchronized as well as time-synchronized.  All frames from all cameras recorded together will have the same timestamps to correlate the images by.  IEEE-1588 Precision time protocol (PTP) is supported through the 10GbE interface, either by having all DVRs synchronized to a PTP grandmaster clock, or by having one DVR operate as a master itself, distributing PTP time to the other DVRs through the network.  Like the Rodeo DVR, RodeoPLUS offers SMPTE LTC input, a SMPTE tri-level sync input, and GPIO pins, while also offering IRIG timecode input and an optional GNSS receiver for global synchronization applications.

FAST 10G ETHERNET

One of the most convenient features of the RodeoPLUS DVR is its 10G Ethernet connectivity.  This interface is used for all configuration and operational control commands, and also for streaming live video to the control software.  Best of all, this interface is used to rapidly transfer video recordings from the RodeoPLUS DVR for offline analysis.  An SFP+ port is provided, so either copper cabling or long-distance optical connections  can be made with multi-mode or single-mode fiber.

LIVE VIDEO MONITORING

RodeoPlus_Feature6.png

For low-latency live monitoring, the RodeoPLUS DVR has an SDI video output capable of streaming Ultra HD or Full HD at up to 60fps.  When high resolution cameras are connected to the DVR, cropping and scaling features can be used to fit the camera's resolution to the SDI output, allowing anything from the full field of view down to a 1:1 pixel crop to be shown.  A wide variety of infrastructure tools are available for transporting, multiplexing, converting and displaying SDI video signals, allowing many live streams from multiple RodeoPLUS DVRs to be simultaneously displayed on one or more monitors.  Live video streaming is also supported through the 10GbE interface, with adjustable control over the bandwidth used for this, so that the control PC can display live video from many RodeoPLUS DVRs simultaneously.

FLEXIBLE CONFIGURATIONS

INTEGRATED TIME REFERENCE INPUTS

Timing can be everything when it comes to video analytics. Understanding the precise time when a frame is captured allows a better correlation of imagery to other data sources, such as telemetry systems, environmental sensors, or other DVR systems in other locations.  RodeoPLUS includes an IRIG-B (AM) timecode input as a standard feature, able to synchronize with many formats of IRIG timing signals found in major test facilities and on airborne platforms.  As well, an optional high-accuracy GNSS receiver can be installed, allowing independent synchronization with not only GPS, but also other international satellite navigation systems.  Position data can be logged with video recordings for mobile capture applications.  Click the button to the right to learn more.

RUGGED RACK-MOUNT DESIGN

Three RodeoPLUS DVRs fit conveniently together in a standard 19" equipment rack, taking up just 2U of height.  With a range of different rack towers or rugged portable rack cases on the market, RodeoPLUS DVRs can be deployed in fixed or portable mounting scenarios.  The available rack shelf accessory  (P/N 2USHELF) facilitates rack mounting with sturdy rear extension arms and can be installed in racks from 18" to 33.5" depth.
